Perth is an energetic city which claims to be the most isolated capital city in the world in being on the far west coast of Australia.  Much of the success of Perth has been brought about by the mineral deposits in the surrounding area, including the discovery of gold.  Perth is on the opposite coast as many of Australia's other attractions but is a beautiful city to visit and a must see if in Western Australia.
